Machine Learning: Theoretical and Practical Computing Perspective, and Recent Progresses of AI in Medical Imaging

Abstract:
The speaker will divide the presentation in two parts, in the first portion, he will focus on:The reason that the progress in machine learning is a major surprise from the perspective of theoretical computability and its implication;Examine the structure of deep learning by means of Turing-Church model. It provides guidance on the machine learning modeling and super parameters selection;The advancement of practical computational power in next phase, and its profound implication. In the second parts, he will present recent results on AI in medical imaging by his team on eye, bone and muscle related diseases. These results enhance significantly the start of the art, exceeding human experts. His team is the winner of the ongoing Stanford University Machine Learning MURA competition. In this competition, for the first time, AI beats human experts in bone and muscle related disease.
